Q & A
Where do these sessions take place?
All portrait sessions take place in my loft studio in Snohomish, Wa. You’ll get specific directions once you book your session.
Will you be offering these sessions in other cities?
Not at this time.
What to expect
When you arrive, just come on in the barn. Show me your receipt (on your phone is fine). We’ll get started right away since time is limited (it’s one of the ways I keep these sessions affordable for you). The shoot is super laid back so don’t stress. It’s meant to be fun. I aim for organic captures, never precise, strict posing, especially with children.
How long does the session last?
The window you’re in the loft studio is 15 minutes. Generally, I’ll shoot for around 10 minutes and then review the photos with you for 5 minutes. I might shoot for a shorter or longer amount of time. It just depends on when I think I’ve got the shots. I move quickly through and there will be plenty of time to get the strongest portraits.
Do you provide hair and makeup?
No, please arrive camera ready.
What ages are these shoots for?
1 and up.
Can I bring my family or friends?
The loft studio setup is small and there is lots of gear and cables for that reason I ask that you bring as few people as you can. Ideally, only the person being photographed. One session is for 10 minutes. If you want another person photographed, you’ll have to buy an additional block of time for each.
What do I wear?
Generally speaking, Its good to keep it timeless and simple. For fairy portrait sessions girls can choose skirts. For the little boys fishing theme a pair of shorts or jeans is fine. Kids will generally be barefoot.
How will I get my portraits and how many do I get?
I will choose the strongest 3-5 portraits and will send you an email with a dropbox link to download within a week after the shoot. Please backup your photos asap as I keep archived photos forever (again, keeping the price affordable for you).
Can I further edit my portrait after I receive it?
I would really prefer you not touch your portrait after you receive it. For the same reasons you wouldn’t paint over a painting that someone has made for you. I’ve spent over a decade learning lighting, post production, retouching, color grading ect. So everything in the process is thought out and purposeful. I know those insta presets are tempting, but please do not edit your portrait in any way.
Can I use these for commercial use?
Not unless that’s negotiated separately with me. Please let me know during your shoot if that’s the case. There would be additional costs. $99 commercial shoots would be undercutting the entire photography industry. Posting them to social media is great and I encourage you to share.
(please note by signing up you’re agreeing that you’ll only use your portrait for personal use and social media, not commercial use. You’re also agreeing that Christine Dunn Photography owns rights to all images created).
And please, please print so your images are not forever lost on your hard drive or a few hours after you’ve posted your portrait on Facebook it’s replaced by more pressing matters like cat videos 😉
